 help with new pair!!
« Thread Started on Mar 10, 2008, 12:24am »

One of my pairs I was given was ( I believe) cinnamon opalines, they are both 4 years old just, and have been together for 3 years prior to me getting them, when I picked them up I was told they were ready to breed and given their nest box, I put them in their new small flight with the next box, day 1 they seemed fine and the cock birds was singing away, day 2 in the morning the hen had a tiny spot of blood just above the beak, I thought she may have just banged herself in the new flight but later that afternoon I went to check them and the cock bird had completely scalped her !!!!!!! she has all her feathers missing across the top of her head, covered in blood and she also has a swollen eye !!!, why has he attacked her !! they been together for a long time and bred together before. I have treated her wounds and she seems bright and chirpie, even calling to the other birds, will I be able to put her back with the cock bird? I have never had this happen before even with my african greys, so why has the happened, Im really shocked about it
