I have purchased some birds that are supossidly from a lime cock x lutino hen.
They are both cocks about 6 months old and good strong birds but appear to be lutino cocks not lutino limes as they are showing no signs of lime through them at this stage.
I have kept lutinos many years ago and I believe they are lutinos.
The question is if they come from this pairing they definately have to be lutino limes. But if the original cock bird is not lime but Cinnamon then they should only throw split cock birds.
The young birds are definately cocks as they carry the red rumps and are displaying.
I can only assume that they have come from a cinnamon split lutino cock to get lutino cocks from this combination.
If this is the case then the lutino cocks would have to be split to cinnamon?
If Oaklee or Fox can throw any light on what may be happening here it would be appreciated.
Cheers Glenn

hi mallee1 if the parents are lime x lutino the young cocks would have to be lutino lime. if they are lutino cocks they will have to be split cinnamon in which case the parents were cinnamon/lutino x lutino they might have been told it was a lime by the person they got it from or they might have been trying to produce cinnamon lutino hens and they got lutino/cinnamon cocks and they might have got some cinnamon lutino hens but the questino is why would you get rid of a lutino/cinnamon cock if you are trying to produce cinnamon lutino. a photo would help.

Hi Brendan,
I honestly believe what I have been told in relation to the parents is correct but maybe the lime cock is actually a cinnamon cock/lutino.
I am going to talk to them shortly and even try to get photos of parents.
I have pulled some feathers from heads of both cocks to see if they come back as lime colour, but I think they will come back as lutino.
Cheers Glenn

you would be able to tell if the cocks are lutinolime or lutino as soon as they are feathered. a pic of the young would be good. if the parent was a cinnamon/lutino the chances of them tossing 2 lutinos is unlikely.
