Hi Guys,
This is my first entry on this forum. I am so glad it exists because I am really struggling to find consistency in identification of various colours.
I had a pair of normals about a decade ago and was only recently hooked again when I stumbled across a Pied male. (I think) But typical of a new breeder, I went and purchased a variety of birds including some normal cocks. (I still like the original colour)
One of the cocks that I bought was through a pet shop, so I am unaware of the breeding. However, this bird has what I can only best describe as yellow pearling around the red feathers on his rump. He also has yellow pearling around the small green feathers on the wing past his elbows.
I will have to catch him in order to obtain a photo as he rarely uncrosses his wings, therefore I only occasionally see the rump feathers.
Could he be split for opaline?? Would love you input.
Cheers
Elke

you often get that in young normal cocks and it moults out when they get their mature colors.
