I thought I had better let you know a little about myself. I live in southern suburbs of Sydney and my first love, and I think I will always love them, were budgies at one stage I had over 100 breeding pairs and became known as Mr Budgies around the district, I found them to be really great birds and I certainly learned a lot from breeding them. I became interested in Red Rumps about 12 months ago and my passion for them has grown ever since, I bred cockatiels for a while but found them lacking in variety of colours and while they are certainly a bird that has personality and make great pet birds when hand raised they are a boring bird colour wise.
I have down sized my budgie and cockatile flock and have decided to increase my Red Rump numbers and I am looking for as much information on these wonderful birds I can get. This forum comes from a need to give fellow Red Rump breeders an opportunity to come together and exchange Ideas and Information with each other.

G'Day Simon, I am a complete novice in the Red Rump department and at the moment I only have 3 pair. I have an Opaline cock that is paired up with a normal hen, they are my best breeding pair at the moment and never fail to give me at least one Lutino hen per clutch. I also have a pied hen that is, at the moment, showing great interest in a split Opaline cock at the moment even though breeding season is finished. I also have a Lutino cock and an Opaline hen that are the remaining pair.
