Can anyone tell me how you can tell if a lutinolime cock is actually a greygreen lutinolime cock.
I have a lutinolime/opaline x greygreen lime hen paired and have a young one that appears to a dirtier or greyer colour through the back than a normal lutinolime, this bird is still in the nest.
I wasn't sure if the lutino has an effect on the whether the greygreen shows through or not.
Any help appreciated.

the lutino will mask grey-green but with the lutinolime look at the parts that is more effected by lime and look for hints of it there and also the red rump would be darker than normal in a grey-green lutinolime than a lutinolime

hello snapper the bottom line is you will notbe able to tell if they have greygreen in the chicks until they moult out there babie feathers and get there juivenille feathers, once this happens the darker feathers will start to appear and thats when you will be able to tell the difference. this will take about 3 or 4 months. the only difference is blue series birds because they are either blue or grey from the start. meaning if the babies have blue feathers in the nest they will not moult into grey birds, they actually have grey feathers from the start. i have had greygreen platinum cocks that have left the nest looking like normal platinums and 3 months later literally change colour. hope this helps you out.
regards matt.
